"So it goes." - Kurt Vonnegut
Red Telephone Issue No.1 Issue No.2
These are two examples of my work at the Red Telephone, an underground press publication. Each issue has a press run of 2000 and is distributed for free in the Pacific Northwest. The publication features articles and interviews on mind-expanding authors, thinkers, musicians and artists.
My duties as editor include page layout, design of the publication, copyediting as well as coordination with our contributors, writers, interviewees, advertisers and printer. My writing is featured in the journalism tab, but the whole issues are featured here as a way to portray my skills in page layout and design.
Earth Week: Realizing the Impact Humans Have on the Environment
The Beauty of Fine Art in Seattle
Above are two examples of my work from the Spectator, Seattle University's student newspaper. As the Features editor, I was responsible for both assigning and editing my writer's work as well as laying out and designing the pages. I coordinated with our staff photographers and worked closely with our writers in order to ensure a high-level of journalistic integrity.
My examples above include a feature for Earth Day which focused on well-known environmental issues and less exposed problems such as light pollution in cities. My other example is an art feature which looked at the offerings from Seattle-area art museums. The articles cover everything from large galleries, commercial galleries as well as the monthly Pioneer Square art walk.
